College studentscome in all shapes, sizes, and colors. They may be eighteen or they may be thirty-eight. Statisticians tell us that, in the 1990's more and more minorities and nontraditional-agestudentswill be going to college. Today, disabled students are attending college and taking advantage of equipment and facilities that didn'texist justa few years ago. There is much greater diversity than other before, yet westill consider college students as a group. Are they really different from other people of the same age and circumstances? Theanswer is both yes and no. People attending college have many things in common with those who do not attend. on the other hand, college students are distinct from other groups because they are undertaking a fairlyspecifis setof learning experiences. Their expectation about life and about themeselves are colored by what they expext of a "COLLEGE EDUCATION" and by what is expected of them.
